An Evangelical Christian website was set up to broadcast Christmas celebrations in Bethlehem live over the internet for the first time.
IPrayTV.com said it wanted to strengthen Christian ties with ‘Israel and the Holy Sites’.
The group has set up a permanent webcam in the Church of the Nativity, which is built over the cave where Christ was born.
Events in the church, including midnight mass on Christmas Eve, were broadcast live on the website and replayed over the following 48 hours for anyone who missed the live viewing.
Webcasts from other Christian holy sites in Israel and Palestine, including the Mount of Olives, are also available on the pro-Israeli website.
IPrayTV’s core audience are Evangelical Christians, who believe that Jesus will return to earth once all the Jews have returned to Israel.
However, the site hopes to attract viewers from across Christian denominations.
